Ginger Nguyen
ROAR Fertility Coach, NCCAOM Board Certified
Ginger has been a licensed acupuncturist and East Asian Medicine Practitioner in Washington State since 2013 and is board certified by the National Commission for Certification in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She holds a Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine from AMC Miami and holds a dual Bachelor’s Degree in political science and health sciences. She interned at two university clinics for 3 years and was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award of her graduating class. Upon graduation, she moved cross-country to intern under Robert Doane, who runs the busiest clinic for Chinese Medicine in the United States and is a world-renown educator on acupuncture and herbal medicine. She delivered over 8,000 patient treatments at his clinic and was part of his award winning team of five, which empowered her confidence as an effective Chinese Medicine Practitioner. She founded Swiss Acupuncture in 2015 and co-founded ROAR+fertility in 2017.
At the tender age of 6 months, Ginger and her brother were drugged up and carried onto a refugee boat in their mother’s arms on a hot summer night of 1982. Her mother gave up her life in communistic post-war Vietnam in search of her husband and a better economic outlook for her two children. The family of 3 was out in the open water for 7 days and nights before they safely landed in a harbor of Hong Kong and found refuge at a UN Refugee Camp on Chimawan, Hong Kong. For over 2 years, they shared a 6×6 foot concrete cubicle, that held their entire life savings. At the age of 2.5, Ginger’s family received asylum in Switzerland and they were happily reunited with their father.
Ginger was raised in the refugee slums of Bern, the capital of Switzerland. She excelled in school and studied Math and Physics at the prestigious Gymnasium Neufeld until she was sponsored to move to the United States at the age of 19. Witnessing injustice and human suffering early in life, her passion to improve the human condition started at a young age and led her to earn a BA in Political Science at UNC Wilmington with the intention of becoming a human rights lawyer.
Starting in her teens, she battled obesity, ADHD, debilitating chronic fatigue and what she thought was narcolepsy. Although there was apparently nothing wrong with her and “no cure” for her condition, she knew that feeling sick and debilitated for the rest of her life was not an option. Her search led her to discover the ancient healing powers of Chinese Medicine, which marked her personal breakthrough on an emotional, spiritual and physical level. This discovery led to her career change and drive to change the healthcare system in the US.
Throughout her career, she has treated a plethora of health conditions, including autoimmune, hormonal and digestive disorders and finds herself especially drawn to treating fertility patients as their cases are uniquely challenging and the end result is fulfilling.
Ginger’s mission is to help empower couples struggling with fertility make their baby dreams come true so they can live happily ever after.
Ginger continues to sharpen her clinical skills as a student intern of world-renown pulse diagnostician Dr. Jimmy Chang and avidly pursues her passion for reading, endurance training and empowering the world.
Tristin McLaren
ROAR Fertility Coach, NCCAOM Board Certified
Tristin McLaren, LAc, CCE, CCWFN holds a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture from Bastyr University. She has been a licensed acupuncturist in Washington State and board certified by the National Commission for Certification in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) since 2006. She is also a Certified Childbirth Educator by Childbirth International and is certified in Whole Food Nutrition from the International Foundation for Nutrition and Health. Tristin has extensive clinical training from Bastyr Center for Natural Health and Harborview Medical Center where she received training from some of the leading Chinese Medicine practitioners in the Seattle area.
After earning her degree from Bastyr, Tristin spent several years in intense study of Hunyuan Chinese medicine with Dr. Yaron Seidman, with whom she co-authored Hunyuan Fertility: Conception, Babies and Miracles. She is the founder and creator of the Hunyuan Birth Method, a unique childbirth education course grounded in Classical Chinese medicine theory to promote safe natural childbirth; this method has proven especially beneficial for first time moms-to-be and those who have experienced traumatic births in the past. For over a decade, she has studied women’s reproductive health, with an emphasis on fertility and pregnancy from some of the top Chinese medicine practitioners in the specialty including Debra Betts, LAc, Sharon Weizenbaum, LAc, Jane Lyttleton, LAc, and Brandon Horn, LAc, among others.
Tristin is a Washington state native and outside of her work, she enjoys spending time with her two children, foraging and wild crafting for edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms, learning about permaculture techniques for gardening, hatching baby chicks and being amused by the zany antics of her backyard turkeys and guinea fowl. She was drawn to Chinese medicine for its insight into living a quality life as well as the respect to nature and nature’s cycles from which it is rooted. Each day it continues to inspire the way she lives and raises her family.
